PMO defines work areas of principal secy, NSA, principal adviser
NEW DELHI: Newly-appointed principal secretary P K Mishra will oversee policy matters, business relating to personnel, law, appointments committee of cabinet, senior appointments and issues relating to cabinet secretariat, cabinet meetings, anti-corruption and the PMO establishment.
An order allocating work in the PMO said Mishra will oversee all important issues and matters, PTI reported. Former cabinet secretary P K Sinha, who was appointed principal advisor to PM Narendra Modi, will oversee policy issues and matters relating to ministries, departments and agencies except those allocated to the principal secretary and NSA Ajit Doval.
Doval will be in charge of matters relating to national security and policy matters other than appointments and will supervise policy relating to ministries of external affairs, overseas Indians affairs, defence, space, atomic energy and external intelligence agency RAW. The oversight of foreign policy is significant given the pivotal role he plays in policy on Pakistan and China.
