Donald Trumps participation reflective of defining ties, says Harsh Vardhan Shringla

NEW DELHI: US President Donald Trumps decision to participate in the `Howdy, Modi event in Houston on September 22 is an acknowledgement of the contributions made by the 3-million strong Indian American diaspora to all walks of life in the US, Indias ambassador Harsh Vardhan Shringla said.
“Never has there been an event of this magnitude to welcome a foreign leader in the US. The presence of the US president at the event will again highlight how special Indias relationship with the US is and why it has been described as the defining partnership of the 21st century, Shringla told TOI.
This will be the first time that Modi and Trump will meet outside the capital, Washington DC, or New York (UN), and will address, as an official put it, the largest ever gathering. It is seen as a huge endorsement of the efforts and also success of the Indian-American diaspora.
Shringla said the House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, the second-ranking member of the Democratic leadership, is also going to address the Howdy Modi event. “This reflects the strong bipartisan support for India, he said.
