Woman creates discreet breastfeeding T-shirts with hidden side zips
An entrepreneurial mother has created her own range of t-shirts for women who want to breastfeed discreetly while still staying stylish.
Lauren Hampshire, 34, set up The Milky Tee Company after her second child was born because she was frustrated by the lack of practical, fashion-conscious choices for new mothers.
The T-shirts in Laurens collection have secret side zips, so the wearer can easily uncover a breast and feed a hungry baby in public.
Some new mothers are self-conscious about exposing themselves while breastfeeding and these t-shirts are perfect for keeping things discreet.
The range has grown in popularity, with buyers across the world purchasing Laurens designs.
Lauren said: Both my daughters were feeding often and I sometimes felt like a human milking machine.
I really struggled to find clothes that I could wear.
My youngest daughter was exclusively breastfed and would refuse a bottle, so I had no choice but to feed in public.
She would feel uncomfortable when I covered her with a blanket and would pull it away.
I had always been a T-shirts and jeans person before having my children but felt my options were limited to frumpy or old-fashioned maternity wear that just wasnt stylish at all.
I couldnt find any clothes that fit the bill so I decided to make my own.
The Kent-based mother of two won an award at Richard Bransons Virgin Business 2018 Voom Awards and received the Paypal International Award at this years ceremony. She will also receive £100,000 worth of processing fees and mentorship from a Paypal leader for six months.
The T-shirts are made from 100% premium cotton and are completely chemical-free to protect sensitive skin and keep the wearer comfortable.
Testimonials praise the generous sizing, excellent quality and practicality of the garments and say that even tandem breastfeeding is easy when wearing a Milky Tee.
Laurens designs might not be for everyone and some mums are happy feed their babies without covering up – it is after all what breasts were designed for – but for any mothers who would rather be discreet, the Milky Tees are a perfect fit.
The Milky Tee range starts at £26.99.
