Eddie Hearn has admitted Lawrence Okolie has a lot more to learn after the Brit’s showdown with Isaac Chamberlain.

Okolie cruised by Chamberlain in their grudge match on Saturday, and many fans were frustrated to see the fight played out at a pedestrian pace.

Chamberlain was guilty of turning the fight into a wrestling match, and Okolie struggled to impose himself on his rival.

But, Okolie won all but one round on the judges’ scorecards and it was a dominant performance despite the fact the contest lacked fireworks.

And Hearn says his fighter showed his inexperience in the bout, but is convinced the ten round, the first of Okolie’s career, will be of massive benefit to the 25-year-old.

He said: ‘Okolie has a lot to learn, but it’s a big win from Okolie, he was impressive in parts, but other parts he has to work on.

‘Isaac got hurt and tried to recover. It was very scrappy. A big ten rounds for Okolie’s career.

‘Both guys have a future, Isaac will come back while Okolie will move forward to British title shots as soon as possible.

‘There will be a lot more exciting performances from Okolie to come.’
