England all-rounder Ben Stokes returned to form with a destructive 93 for Canterbury Kings in New Zealand’s domestic Twenty20 competition.
The 26-year-old struck six fours and seven sixes in his 47-ball innings as Canterbury posted 217-9 against Otago Volts in Christchurch.
Stokes then claimed figures of 1-17 from two overs as Canterbury clinched an emphatic 134-run win, bowling Otago out for 83.
Stokes, who is unavailable for England selection after being arrested over an incident in Bristol, had scored just 36 runs in his three previous innings.
While Stokes continues to play for New Zealand side Canterbury, England started the third Ashes Test in Perth today with Australia holding a 2-0 lead in the series.
Stokes has scored almost 2,500 runs and taken 95 wickets in 39 Test matches for England but will not play for his country until a decision is made on whether he will be charged.
