A mother and son have been killed after a speeding car crashed into their living room and went completely through the house.
The woman, named by the coroner as Maria Davis aged 39, and her seven-year-old son, Jerome, were sat in the lounge with a third person when the tragedy happened in Dayton, Ohio, on Wednesday night.
The third person, reported to be a 10-year-old, was not injured.
Lieutenant Steven Bauer, of the Dayton Police, said it appeared the driver had panicked when he saw officers patrolling the neighbourhood and sped off.
Police did not have a chance to stop the vehicle before it crashed into the property.
A handgun and drugs were seized from the car.
Fox 45 reports that a 10-year-old boy ran to his neighbour's house after the crash because he didn't know where his mother was.
One man is in custody, but it is not known whether this is the driver or a passenger.
Officers are continuing to investigate and are looking for one other person in connection.
