Woman doesn’t like sleep being disturbed during classical concert
In theory, a classical music concert is the perfect place to catch up on some well-earned snooze.
Forget the cost of the ticket or the time you’ve spent going to the concert, with its gentle rhythm and soothing sounds, orchestras can provide the perfect soundtrack for sleep.
But if you do manage to doze off at a classical concert, expect a rude awakening.
That’s what happened to a woman who is suspected to have drifted off during a performance by the North State Symphony in Redding, California.
Hilarious footage taken at the concert earlier this month and posted on YouTube shows her letting out a shocked scream as the volume suddenly increases.
During the performance of Stravinksy’s Firebird, the orchestra gently fades away before a strike of the bass drum leads to the music returning more intensely than before.
It is this moment when the woman lets out her little yelp, causing the audience to laugh – normally an unforgivable sin at the theatre.
Everyone seemed to take it in good humour, with several of the musicians seen grinning afterwards.
Even the conductor glances over his shoulder, prompting another wave of laughter from the audience.
So if you ever find yourself at the orchestra and feeling drowsy, resist temptation – not only is it rude, but you could be caught out like this woman.
