Covid vaccine: Rumours thrive amid trickle of pandemic facts

A Perthshire photographic artist has had two artworks accepted into the Royal Glasgow Institute Of The Fine Arts open annual exhibition in Glasgow.

The event, which runs from November 11-26, displays selected artworks by artists from Scotland and beyond.

Cat Burton’s artworks included at the RGI are limited edition prints of ‘Rust’ and ‘Lost In The Fog’, both depicting lone trees, one of Cat’s favourite photographic subjects.

Cat, who has made a permanent home in Scone, is a self taught artist, and her work primarily focuses on the Scottish landscape with an aim to reveal the magic and mystery of the land around us.

Likened to Hitchcock and inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe, her images are haunting yet beautiful.

Cat said: ‘I am so thrilled to be included in the RGI’s 154th Open Annual Exhibition in Glasgow. This is my first time exhibiting in the city and I’m excited to see the full collection.’

Cat’s photo Lost In The Fog will be on show in Glasgow

The 32-year-old, who has also exhibited at prestigious galleries such as the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh, has been making waves in the local art scene since she moved to the area in February.

She runs photography workshops in Perth and hosts a free monthly meetup for local photographers called Perth Photo Club.

She will be speaking at the Royal Photographic Society meeting at Bridge Of Allan this Sunday (November 12). She will also be participating in the Glamis Castle Christmas Market (December 8-10) and the Country Living Christmas Fair in Glasgow (November 23-26).

Born in Lincolnshire in 1985, Cat graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2007 with a 1st Class BSc (Hons) in Computer Science. Having originally followed a career in video game development, Cat spent two years travelling the world before returning to both her passions:
photography and Scotland.

She now has a permanent base in Scone, where she works on her photographic art full time.

Full details of her artworks, workshops and upcoming events can be found on her website, www.catburton.co.uk.
