Britons ditching weekly shop for daily spending, says Waitrose report

Big supermarket trollies on the decline, while vegetarian prepared meals, juniper berries and Sicilian wine are on the rise

Jumbo supermarket trollies could be on their way out as a result of major changes in the way we buy food that have led to millions of UK consumers ditching their single weekly big shop.

According to a new food and drink report two-thirds of Britons now nip to a supermarket more than once a day, and one in 10 people decide what to buy for an evening meal just before they eat it – often stopping to shop for it on the way home from work.
